Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-23

This Privacy Policy explains what information Lumiere collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using Lumiere you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

Account data: your email address and a securely hashed password.

Learning data: your placement results, per-skill CEFR levels, study plan, attempts, scores, flashcard review history, and progress.

Audio: if you use speaking or pronunciation features, we may process and (with your consent) store audio recordings together with their scores.

Usage data: feature usage counts used to enforce free-tier limits and improve the product.

How we use your information

To provide and personalize your learning experience, including generating your study plan and adapting to weak areas.

To produce AI feedback and scoring on your writing and speaking.

To operate billing and enforce free-tier limits.

To maintain the security and integrity of the service.

AI processing

Some features send your submissions (for example writing text or speaking transcripts) to AI providers to generate feedback. We send only what is needed and validate all responses before showing them to you.

AI-generated levels, scores, and feedback are estimates intended to guide your learning. They are mapped to the CEFR framework but are not official certifications or guarantees of exam performance.

Data retention and deletion

You can request deletion of your account, learning data, and any stored audio at any time from Settings or by emailing support@lumiere.example.

When you delete your account we remove your personal data, audio recordings, and learning history except where we must retain limited records to meet legal or billing obligations.

Third-party services

We use third-party processors for AI feedback, speech/pronunciation assessment, payments, and hosting. Each processes data only to provide their service to us.
